A tuberculosis skin test (called a Mantoux or PPD skin test) is performed at 18 months of age. There are no side effects. In Arizona, the risk of TB is greater than in other parts of the country due to our proximity to Mexico and the testing therefore is recommended at 1-2 years, 4-5 years and 11-14 years of age.
